The North Shore (The long post)

Going up north, I was all prepared for cold weather. I mean, that's what weather.com told me to expect. But when we went hiking on Friday. It was gorgeous!
We went out to see the Splitrock Lighthouse and decided that we need to make a radio station, Splithouse Light Rock. The lighthouse was closed, but we knew it would be, so we just hiked around on the trails.

With all the Birch trees not yet budding, we felt like we were walking around in an elephant graveyard.

And there was still quite a bit of snow on the ground.

We hiked to Pebble Beach, which should be called, boulder beach or something to that effect. From here you could get a good view of the lighthouse from afar.

I tried to get a picture of us in front of the lighthouse, but Malachi strategically placed his head in the way.

And strategically placed his hand in the way.

What a doof.

Then we went to Gooseberry Falls.

The water was really rushin'

On Saturday we drove up to Grand Marais and ate at Sven and Ole's.

Mmmm. Pizza.
All in all, it was a great weekend up north and I wish it could have been longer!

I like that pic of you lying on the tree over the water, and the one of the peeling bark. I can't believe there is still snow there. It was so hot here I had to turn on the AC.

Oh man, what a fun trip. I think those pics of Malachi deliberately covering up the lighthouse are so funny. And yeah, it would be weird to walk through such a bare-boned birch forest like that. And that waterfall looks like crazy gushing!
