Big Screen Trivia

(these are other's words except for anything in parentheses)

Upcoming Movie Sequels
  • Jurassic Park 4: Laura Dern is still attached, and it’ll be released in 2009. Don’t hold your breath though, as shooting would need to start really very soon...
  • Ace Ventura 3: No Jim Carrey though, and no chance of it seeing the inside of a cinema. Head to Blockbuster later in the year if you want to catch it.
  • Ice Age 3: 1st July 2009.
  • The Thomas Crown Affair 2: Pierce Brosnan returns, and filming starts shortly.
  • Shrek 5: The fourth film was a no-brainer after the tepid third outing made so much cash. But a fifth instalment has also been confirmed.
  • Night at the Museum 2: Ben Stiller is returning
  • The Brazilian Job: the follow up to Paramount’s US remake of The Italian Job is still on the cards, and it’s got a 2009 release date marked. Jason Statham, Mos Def, Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron are attached, as is director F Gary Gray.
  • I, Robot 2: All we know on this one is that it’s in the scripting stages still, with a potential 2010 release date planned in. No news on Mr Smith's involvement.
  • I Am Legend 2: Warner’s huge Christmas 2007 hit could also have a follow up, although it’d be interesting to see if Will Smith returned to it. A 2010 release date is also being mooted for this one.
  • Beverly Hills Cop 4
  • National Treasure 3: you’ll only have to wait until 2011 for the third film in the series.
  • Cars 2
  • Toy Story 3: This one, after lots of umming and ahhing, appears to be a goer. It won’t, as was speculated, be a straight-to-DVD affair, and Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are both expected back on voicing duties. It’ll be out in 2010.
  • Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants: it’s out in August
  • Little Fockers: It’s due in 2009.
TV shows heading to the big screen
  • Arrested Development: The wonderful American sitcom that was so good it got canned is coming to the big screen! Expected release date is 2009, and all of the show’s cast and crew appear to be attached. Result!
  • The A Team: The movie is still pressing ahead, with John ‘Shaft remake’ Singleton in the director’s chair. Latest casting rumours: Woody Harrelson as Murdock and Ice Cube as B.A. The film’s due in 2010.
  • ChiPs: Ready for a big screen bout of Chicago Highway Patrol? Warner Bros is developing the project for possible release next year; writers are attached to the film now, with Wilma Valderrama (from Party Monster and Fast Food Nation) reported to be interesting the casting team.
  • Fraggle Rock The Movie: a writer is being sought for the project. 2009 is the earliest we’ll see it.
  • The Muppets: There's talk of a Muppet revival, with Jason Segal and Nick Stoller writing and directing the project.
  • The Smurfs: Blame the huge success of Alvin & The Chipmunks for this, as now The Smurfs are being dusted down for a big screen outing. Colin Brady is down to direct, and John Lithgow may be persuaded to lend his vocal talents to the film. 2009 is the planned release year.
Planned Movie Remakes
  • Logan’s Run: Uber-producer Joel Silver is pushing this long-mooted remake, which has director Joseph Kosinski attached (whose name is also being linked with the new Tron film). Logan’s Run is believed to be first in line, though, and a 2010 release is being mooted.
  • Tron: Will it be a sequel? Will it be a remake? Will they call it a ‘reimagining’? All these questions and more are set to be answered, as three decades on, Tron will be heading back to the big screen in 2010.
  • Short Circuit: Number Five is, er, still alive, with original screenwriters coming back for the reboot of the 80s original. No news of a finished script, director or shooting date, though.
  • Footloose: may go before the camera this year.

They should not remake footloose and short circuit. Why do they insist on remaking good movies...especially good movies that are not that old! Come up with a new idea people!

Haha, I agree with Taumi! Leave the good movies alone! As for Jurassic Park 4...I'm just afraid that Keira Knightly is going to be in it. That would just ruin it.
